Timing Belt / Chain

Not changing your cambelt or chain could cause a fair bit of damage to your engine.

Your water pump is driven by the cambelt / chain and provides circulation of the fluids which cool your engine. In some cases a water pump can seize and can cause the cambelt/chain to stop suddenly and break. For this reason, it makes sense to replace the water pump at the same time as the cambelt/chain. Completing both jobs at the same time gives you total peace of mind and acts as a cost effective method.

Recommended change intervals:

Timing belt - 5 years or 50,000 miles.

Timing chain - between 80,000 – 120,000 miles.

(Timing chain is not lifetime, can stretch or snap, chains sliders can worn out and make rattling noise).
